The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers faced off on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 25, in the 82nd annual Iron Bowl. Number 6 ranked Auburn defeated the number 1 ranked Alabama 26-14. Despite the victory, Jordan Hare Stadium took a beating due to the celebratory crowd. After the win Auburn fans rushed on the field by climbing through the bushes lining the gates in the stadium. Due to people trying to climb through and getting stuck in the bushes, the bushes were severely damaged. The University was also fined $250K due to the SEC’s policy against fans being permitted to enter the playing area. After the loss, Alabama dropped to number 5 in the rankings and Auburn rose to number 2. Auburn lost to Georgia in the SEC Championship game Saturday, December 2.
