Early Tuesday morning, January 23, students at Marshall High School were getting ready for a normal day, but their day was going to be anything but. A student, whose name has not been disclosed, opened fire on his fellow students, leaving two students dead and eighteen wounded. The Benton Police have declined to release the name of the student, likely due to the student being a minor, but we do know that the student has been officially charged with murder. In Kentucky, it is illegal for someone under to age of eighteen to be in possession of a gun, unless they are in a firearms training course or hunting. This did not, however, prohibit the murderer from carrying one into a school and using it to kill. Our prayers go out to all those affected by this horrible tragedy, and we hope that their community is able to recover quickly from this disaster.
