If you’ve looked outside of the lunchroom’s windows recently, you would’ve seen a large slab of concrete in place of the dirt that used to be there. Thanks to generous donations from the Beta Club and Key Club, SHS is getting a courtyard right outside the lunchroom and library. The project is underway now with the concrete poured already, and we are hoping that it will be done sometime in the spring. Once the projected is completed, students will have the opportunity to eat lunch in the courtyard. This will provide students with a great experience to enjoy the fresh outdoor air in the middle of their busy school-day schedules. Students are hardly allowed outside of the school building during the day, with the exception of athletics, so this will also allow students a sense of a little more freedom. I am excited to see how the courtyard project will turn out, and I hope that the seniors will get a chance to enjoy it before graduation.
