This year, in many of my classes I have been surrounded with many seniors I have not previously met. These classes forced me to step out of my little anxious bubble and socialize with these new and (at that time) intimidating creatures. From these humans I learned, heard, and experienced many things I would never have if I had just remained silent. Little do they know, every single one of these new friends I honestly do value. So now, as they move on to bigger and better things, I want to send them off with a thank you.

Dear senior class of 2018,

Some of you I have known forever, some I just met this year, but I am so thankful to all of you who have chosen to be little blessings to me this year. From the ones who saved my butt because my date ditched me at the last second, to the ones who cheered me up and made me smile when I was being melodramatic, I think this senior class is one of the best to ever pass through these halls. I will never forget any of the Journalism class. Our dramatics involving every crazy thing you can imagine. That class involved (loud) support of our country, many liberal ideals, several mental breakdowns, and our many creative plots….*ahem*. In addition, the only senior in English with me is probably one of my favorite people. She is always so peppy and joyful or just sarcastic in a way that makes the bad days a little more bearable. Now, my Spanish class is honestly some of the strangest group of people I’ve had the pleasure to meet. They are SO hilarious and I hate that I waited so late to meet them. My last class with seniors is Bio. Let me tell you, that class has been a wild ride. The first day I walked in I was terrified. By now, I’ve learned that everyone in that class is just as salty, sarcastic, and confused as I am. All year, I have opened up and introduced myself  (or been introduced to), many new faces. Some during school hours, some at church, and some at sporting events. As a general rule, I am so happy for every single new friendship I built. So, our lovely seniors, and some of my very best friends, thank you. You have made this year one of the best in all of high school and I’m sure many of you have no idea what an impact you have made on my life. Even when I disagreed, or I bumped heads with one of you, I was given a fresh perspective. There is no way to put a value on the things that I learned, and I am ever thankful for that.

Thank you so very much,

Katlyn Woods
