On Thanksgiving Night, November 22nd, there was a shooting at the Riverchase Galleria, Alabama’s biggest mall and a well-populated Black Friday destination.

The shooting first occurred on the second floor outside of Foot Action at 9:52 pm. Shots were fired after a supposed fight over newly released shoes.

Sadly, there were two people shot and injured, and another man was killed on the scene at 10:11 pm. The two people injured were an 18-year-old male, who was sent to UAB Hospital’s Trauma Center and a 12-year-old girl, who was hospitalized at Children’s of Alabama.

The man who was killed on the scene by an unnamed police officer was Emantic Fitzgerald Bradford Jr.

Protests then began outside the Hoover City Hall around 6 pm and continued on US highway 31 towards The Galleria. These protesters are asking for police video cameras and mall surveillance cameras for public review, and are calling to boycott The Galleria mall for a real apology to Bradford’s family.

People continue to pray for the victims as well as their families.

The man who did shoot the 18-year-old was eventually caught in Georgia.
