On the week of March 3-8, SHS had the clinic and tryouts for colorguard. There were 55 people who tried out, including 19 vets. Each person had to do the basics and then a routine they had learned throughout the week. After everyone had tried out the scores were put into a computer to find the natural break line. Anyone above the line made it. They are scored on presentation, skill, recovery, consistency, and personality. The captain candidates will also tryout to determine who the captains will be for the 2019-2020 school year. They have to make their own routine, call the candidates to attention, write a resume,  and be interviewed by the judges. There are 7 captain candidates for the upcoming year. They will be scored in presentation, skill, leadership, and personality. Later in the year they will have rifle tryouts. They will demonstrate their skills with a rifle. If they make it, they will do a routine with a rifle and two with a flag. They will also have danceline tryouts. For this, the format is the same as colorguard tryouts, but they will be scored on flexibility, kicks, and a dance they will learn throughout the week as well as presentation, personality, and recovery.

To be on any branch of the auxiliary is a hard task but it will benefit the members with a great memory, great friends, determination, and lifelong memories. The 2019-2020 colorguard is going to bring many great things to the football and competition field. As always, they will bring many trophies and awards back to Springville High School.
