If you noticed that a handful of athletes are sporting an odd hair color lately, you’re not alone. Our baseball team, after winning the area championship, has dyed their hair varying shades of blonde in celebration. I caught up with some of the players to see what the reasoning was and how long their hair would take the return to normal.

Sophomore Jake G. has participated in the group celebration, although the top of his hair looks more orange than most. Some players couldn’t or wouldn’t participate, but instead will use temporary spray to join in. I feel like there was no consideration for pictures at any upcoming events, particularly Easter and graduation.

I asked junior Braden about who came up with this idea and he says it was his, although there is a little regret that has grown. He is concerned about how to get back to normal after they finish playing, so I suggested an incredibly short haircut and then a bad dye job on top, particularly for the graduating seniors. He pointed out to me that the team could still be playing games at that point, so they may be walking across the stage with the visible reminder of their celebration.

Questionable or not, they picked a fun way to celebrate their wins and we’re behind them in all of their games.
